PROJECT INFORMATION
Created in collaboration with SOYBLOQ / Kim Nguyen.
MS Salmon is a long-term game project developed in collaboration with SOYBLOQ and Kim Nguyen.
My primary contribution has been the creation of environments, background artwork and selected visual assets used throughout the game world.
The project combines a distinctive stylised visual language with very different gameplay formats. Some sequences use a top-down perspective, others reference classic arcade shooters, restaurant games or point-and-click exploration.
Because of this variety, every environment has to do more than simply look appealing. Composition, visual hierarchy and contrast have to support gameplay and help direct the player toward relevant information.
For several environments, I developed the artwork from early visual ideas and composition sketches through to finished background paintings and implementation-ready assets.
The project also gave me room to explore a more graphic and playful approach than much of my film and commercial work. Retro influences, exaggerated perspectives and game-specific visual systems became part of a world that could adapt to very different gameplay mechanics while remaining visually coherent.
